Sound knowledge, a practical work plan.
Examining mix, compaction and curing variability alongside properties of dense or lightweight aggregate concrete blocks.
Concrete block and lightweight aggregate masonry manufacturers.
Details that affect the outcome of the work
Retain the mould cavity link
A batch average can hide systematic differences between cavities. Record the sample's cavity and time. Compare dimensional and mass results against those identifiers to distinguish equipment or process differences from random product variability rather than treating every block as an interchangeable observation.
Curing information supports production evidence
A mix record does not describe all later product conditions. Link curing location, product placement and relevant process records to the batch. When results change, examine post-production conditions as well as the recipe, giving the technical review a broader and traceable information base.
Read lightweight aggregate information accurately
Do not track lightweight and dense aggregate blocks under an indistinct product identity. Show input type, geometry and density information clearly. Review the representativeness of earlier data sheets after changes so results for different materials are not incorrectly used as though they were the same evidence.
EN 771-3 Aggregate Concrete Masonry Units training
We help your team interpret the topic, ask the right questions and apply it in their own work.
Skills you will gain in training
- Identify mould-related variation.
- Connect curing with results.
- Define products by aggregate type.
Training content
We use these topics to explore how standard requirements translate into your operations.
- Dense and lightweight aggregate products
- Void geometry and dimensions
- Mass, density and strength
- Compaction and curing records
- Mould cavity and batch traceability
EN 771-3 training examines geometry, density and strength for masonry units made with dense or lightweight aggregates. An unchanged mix does not show that every block experienced identical manufacturing conditions. Records of mould cavity, compaction and curing are therefore important. Participants learn how to describe void configuration and dimensions consistently in sample identities and customer information.
AKREKAL consultancy connects mix revisions and process parameters with product codes, moulds and batch results. For lightweight aggregates, input condition and density information receive particular attention. Internal reviews investigate results pooled from different cavities, unrecorded changes in curing locations and dimensions copied only from nominal drawings. Production observations become part of the record structure supporting interpretation of measured results.
The example concerns blocks whose edges and mass repeatedly differ from others. Participants separate samples by mould cavity and production time, comparing measurements and curing records. They investigate whether apparently random defects are associated with a recurring production location. The output specifies sampling distribution and process checkpoints in an improvement plan.
Let’s turn knowledge into practice in your organisation.
We review your current situation, identify your priorities and provide organisation-specific support for the following work.
Cavity sampling plan.
Curing-batch mapping.
Product change review.
Deliverables, responsibilities and assessment criteria are agreed together when defining the service scope.
Tell us about your consultancy needsLet’s prepare documents that demonstrate implementation.
One focus of the documentation review is “Retain the mould cavity link”. The records are checked for scope, owner, revision and supporting basis so that they accurately reflect the work performed.
The work addresses topic-specific outputs such as “Cavity sampling plan”. Gaps are identified using records actually used by your organisation. Ready-made documents that do not reflect the way you operate are not adopted without adaptation.
The difference between CE marking and certification
CE marking is a manufacturer’s declaration linked to the applicable product conformity requirements; it is not a general quality certificate. The route depends on the product and the applicable legislation. Not every product requires the same type of third-party certificate. AKREKAL provides consultancy on technical documentation, conformity assessment planning and application preparation. It does not take over the testing or certification decisions of authorised bodies.

Aggregate concrete units are not automatically equated with autoclaved aerated concrete or manufactured stone masonry scopes.
Before you decide
Is aerated concrete also within EN 771-3?
Autoclaved aerated concrete masonry units are addressed separately in EN 771-4.
Does an average provide enough information?
Without distributions and production locations, an average may hide systematic differences.
